Jamie Milay is an emerging multidisciplinary artist whose practice includes film & video art, photography, performance, collage, installation, sound, and poetry. They are currently in their final year of Theatre & Film studies and Multimedia at McMaster University. Jamie is primarily interested in creating performance-based work that challenges the notion of binaries, and explores lateral violence and power dynamics within marginalized communities. Jamie is currently developing "SANCTION", a sound poem piece exploring intimate partner violence in queer relationships, with House & Body as part of their inaugural Playwrights Initiative. Jamie is also currently developing their thesis project, "parce que je ne suis pas une fille et une garcon", an autobiographical performance and installation piece exploring the construction and fluidity of individual identity. Jamie is also developing a performance text titled "All the Fruits that Rot in Our Bellies" with the support of the Women's Work Playwrights collective. Lastly, Jamie is acting as the Box Office coordinator for Frostbites, and is extremely excited to be developing their skills as an artist-producer, through the ALERT Program.
